“Skin booster” isn’t one treatment — it’s a family of injectable and micro-infused treatments that improve skin quality (hydration, elasticity, texture, glow) rather than adding volume like filler. Over the past two decades the technology has evolved through five widely recognized generations. Here’s what each one is, what it does best, and which of them you can actually get at Diamond Aesthetics.
Generation 1 — Hyaluronic Acid (pure hydration)
The original skin boosters: non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) micro-injected across the skin, where it binds water and deeply hydrates from within.
Best for: dehydration, dullness, fine crepey lines, overall skin “plumpness.”
At Diamond: Restylane Skinboosters — part of our Skin Boosters treatment ($400).
Generation 2 — HA + nutrient cocktails (hydration + feeding the skin)
Second-generation boosters combine HA with the building blocks skin uses to renew itself — vitamins, amino acids, minerals, antioxidants, and coenzymes.
Best for: glow, tone, tired or stressed skin, supporting collagen production over a course.
At Diamond: Fillmed NCTF 135 HA (HA plus 59 active ingredients), used with microneedling as part of our skin-booster options.
Generation 3 — PDRN / polynucleotides (regeneration signals)
Instead of just hydrating or feeding skin, PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide, derived from salmon DNA) supports the skin’s own repair and regeneration processes — collagen, elasticity, and tissue quality.
Best for: firmness, elasticity, texture, delicate areas, skin that needs repair rather than just moisture.
At Diamond: VAMP by Prollenium (PDRN, applied into microneedling channels) and Wonderm PDRN with MicronJet ($349) — micro-infused, including delicate areas like under the eyes.
Generation 4 — Exosomes (cell-to-cell messengers)
Exosomes are tiny vesicles cells use to signal each other (“repair here, build there”). They’re the most talked-about category online right now — and the one to be careful with in Canada: exosome products are not authorized by Health Canada for cosmetic use, and the exosome treatments marketed abroad operate under different rules.
At Diamond: Not offered. We’d rather explain that honestly than sell you something unregulated; if the Canadian rules change, we’ll revisit it.
Generation 5 — advanced bioactive systems (barrier + brightening science)
The newest generation combines bioactive materials science with proven brightening and barrier actives in structured multi-step systems.
At Diamond: Res Novae Crystal and Crystal Plus by MediFab — ultra-pure chitosan (Crystal) plus an Activator of hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and allantoin, delivered through microneedling channels.
Best for: elasticity, barrier repair, hydration, and brightening in one course (monthly × 3): $299 / $349 per session, packages of 3 available.
Which generation is right for you?
- Mostly dehydrated and dull → Generation 1–2 (Skinboosters / NCTF).
- Want repair, firmness, and elasticity → Generation 3 (PDRN — VAMP or Wonderm).
- Want barrier repair + brightening with microneedling → Generation 5 (Res Novae).
- Curious about exosomes → Generation 4 education above; ask Jennifer what the regulated alternatives can do for the same goals.
Higher generation ≠ automatically better. The right choice depends on your skin, your concerns, and your budget — which is why every booster plan at Diamond starts with an assessment (our Skin Care Consultation is free).
